Peat Foam Growing Medium
There is an industry standard (British Standards Institution PAS100) for green compost that enforces consistent and regulated processing in order to encourage its use in potting composts. Due to its high pH and high levels of nutrients, green compost tends to be mixed with other materials to make potting compost – it is usually no more than 30 per cent of the overall product. Locally Available Materials Research is ongoing into a number of materials that, while locally available, may be useful ingredients in blended products, e. g arable straw waste, wool waste, carpet waste and paper and cardboard production waste. Home-made Gardeners can mix well-rotted, home-made compost, leafmould and inorganic materials (loam and sand) to make their own peat-free growing media, but results tend to be variable. It is difficult to standardise pH, moisture retention and available nutrients, and to ensure that the final mix is weed-free. Home-made potting media are best avoided for seed sowing (because of the potential for them to contain fungal pathogens that can harm seedlings or cause damping off).

Peat Moss Peat Moss Is partly decomposed vegetation. Decomposition was slow at the northern areas where it's located in bogs. There are three common sorts of peat moss-Sphagnum, Hypnum, and Reed/Sedge. Sphagnum peat is roughly 75% fiber using a pH of 3–4. Hypnum peat is roughly 50% fiber using a pH of 6. Reed/Sedge peat is roughly 35% fiber using a pH of 6 or more. Perlite Perlite Drains quickly, but is very light and will float when bombarded with water. Perlite has no loading capability and is best utilized to aerate soil or soilless mixture. Rockwool Rockwool Is undoubtedly the most frequently used growing medium and also my favored. It's an inert, sterile, porous, non-degradable growing medium that offers business root support. Rockwool has the power to hold air and water for the roots. The origins can draw in the majority of the water saved at the rockwool, but it doesn't have any buffering capacity and a top pH. Rockwool is possibly the most common hydroponic growing medium on earth.

Alternatively, most of the major manufacturers produce peat-reduced brands, which should be suitable.

Collect your moss on a plate, leave a little bit of soil so it does not fall apart. Pick out any small weeds. Step 2: Chop and Mix Chop up the moss, and add some yogurt. Add a few Table Spoons of yogurt. Get a pastey consistency. Step 3: Grow! Spread It on a rock or tree in a place the moss would grow. Wait a month and check back. Dont Forget About It!
